Our hosts James and Linky Smith allow us exclusive access to their property right on the Magaliesberg Mountain. There is always a great selection of birds and we hope to see the Cape Vultures at close range. For those fit enough to make the steep climb you may be rewarded with really close up views of the vultures and other raptors, but certainly with a magnificent view over the dam. Those not wanting to do any climbing may bird at leisure from the splendid veranda. Braai facilities will be available, please bring your own wood/ charcoal.
Route: Follow the R512 past Lanseria. At the Broederstroom T-junction, just after crossing the Crocodile River turn left onto R512. Travel for 11km and you will see a sign towards Brits, turn left into R560. Drive 2km and you will find “De Rust”, on your right hand side. (Opposite Magalies Park Golf Estate and before Leopard Lodge.
