Welcome!

The Witwatersrand Bird Club is the oldest club in the BirdLife South Africa (BLSA) family and is based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The club is also represented by satellite branches in the East Rand, the West Rand and in Henley-on-Klip.

We currently enjoy a membership base in excess of 800 members. The objectives of the club include the promotion of, inter alia, the enjoyment, understanding, study and conservation of indigenous wild birds in South Africa.

To this end the club has an active programme of events for the social birder, holds regular bird identification and photographic courses, conducts research and is involved in a number of recognised conservation projects.

We invite you to explore our website to discover more about WBC.
